The AWM is a bolt-action rifle type weapon in BATTLEGROUNDS. It can only be found in air drops.

The AWM, or Accuracy International Arctic Warfare Magnum, designated as the L115 by the British Armed Forces, is a bolt-action sniper rifle. It was built on the older L96 frame, and was designed specifically for extensibility and ease of service. The AWM is a magnum rifle, chambered typically for the .300 Winchester Magnum or the .338 Lapua Magnum. Because of this round, it has ridiculous stopping power over a very far range, and with slow reload times to balance this beast of a sniper rifle.

Summary

The AWM is a powerful bolt action rifle designed for extreme range sharpshooting. Dealing the highest amount of damage out of any gun in the game, it is also one of only two ranged weapons (the other being the crossbow) capable of killing any player in one shot to the head, even if the victim is wearing a Spetsnaz helmet. At distances beyond 500 meters, it becomes the only gun in the game that can kill players in one shot to the head. The long reload, time between shots, high damage and unique ammo all represent the high risk, high reward gameplay that requires the user to have patience and a steady aim, moving position quickly after firing, lest other players recognizing the firing sound of the AWM attempt to close in to take the weapon for themselves.

The AWM will deal maximum damage out to 150 meters, with maximum damage falloff at 679 meters.

Trivia

  • The AWM is based on the Accuracy International AWM, although the bolt tailpiece is shown incorrectly as rotating with the entire bolt when cycling a new round into the chamber.
  • The AWM is sometimes referred to as the AWP, while incorrect, this is often done for simplicity's sake.
